Sampler Quilt Workshop
All sewing levels are welcome in this sampler quilt workshop at Churchtown Dairy, a beautifully restored dairy farm in Hudson, NY.
In this full day workshop we will focus on building four beautiful quilt blocks: Missouri Star, Monkey Wrench, Old Maid’s Puzzle and Flying Geese. You might choose to experiment with all four or focus your day on one or two styles. Make your quilt modern with bright solids or perhaps mimic a vintage look with small prints. Either way you will gain lots of experience cutting, and piecing to set you up for success in future projects. If you want instruction with a block style not mentioned here, no problem, contact me and I am happy to help you along.
Introduction to Quiltmaking
A two day, beginner friendly workshop where participants learn all steps in the quilt making process. Improvisational and traditional styles will emerge as you work through the patchwork piecing process on the first day to create your own unique quilt top. On the second day you will layer the pieced top with batting and backing creating a quilt sandwich for machine and/or hand quilting. As a last finishing step you’ll learn to secure the edges of your quilt by attaching a binding.
I will review cutting and pressing techniques and give individual help with machine skills to get you set up for future stitching projects.
