Ohio Star Quilt Workshop

  • Catskill Weaving School 111 Water Street Catskill, NY, 12414 United States (map)

The Ohio Star quilt pattern is a timeless, classic American quilt design popularized in the early 19th century. Consisting of a nine patch arrangement of quarter square triangles around a central square, the design is perfect for expanding the skills of any experienced quilter or advanced beginner.  However; if you are new to quilting, but know how to use a sewing machine, consider joining us to work on your skills in cutting and piecing half and quarter square triangles.

During the first half of the day we’ll work on precision cutting and piecing skills to assemble the half square triangles (HSTs) into quarter square triangle (QST) blocks. After a lunch break the experienced quilters will move on to assembling the QSTs and central squares together to form the Ohio Star block while the newer sewists will have the option to continue honing their piecing and machine skills of the component parts. We’ll also cover how to add sashing to your blocks to expand the overall quilt design.
